Mixed results as we continued to evolve the formation...

FCA faced a couple of pleasant surprises as the Magic City and Twin Falls U16 teams provided superior competition and we failed to win in a couple of tight matches.

It wasn't all doom and gloom though, there were occasional moments of great teamwork showing insight into the teams potential as we all learn to anticipate one another.

Game 1, vs Twin Falls U16 (Tournament Champions) FCA 1 - TF 3

Our side was simply not ready to play. Formation ws 4-4-2. the 8 am start time must have been too early as most of the team arrived in Pocatello with less than 30 min time before the game. Additionally, mental seriousness was not present, probably due to arrogance and that we had just beaten the Twin Falls u18 side a few weeks earlier. While we had most of the possession, Twin was very opportunistic with counter strikes and took advantage of our mental lapses, scoring 2 goals on breakdowns and one goal due to a terrific strike from an unmarked wing-midfielder.

Game 2, vs Magic City U16 (Tournament Second) FCA 1 - MC 2

Our second game of the day and Magic City's first. Formation was 4-4-2. With only 2 hours rest pre-game, we did manage to score first. FCA had even better than the first game but our turnovers and our missed shots from very close range allowed Magic City to remain in the game. Our inability to play tough defense from the opponent's free kick re-starts allowed two scores from close range.

Game 3, vs Magic City U15 (last place team) FCA 6 - MC 15 0

Facing an opponent in the cold and snow, we won a game against a younger, weaker side. Formation was 5-3-2. The Magic City U15 had been outscored 6-2 on Saturday losing both games. We have played Magic City's two Saturday opponents earlier this season, (last couple of weeks) winning both gmes by a combined score of 7-0. Still of concern vs Magic City U15, is that we committed 62 tournovers in a 60 min game against a weaker side.
