Futbol Club Athletico
In early June of 2007, after the end of the spring club soccer season, young men from the Ballistic and Extreme clubs of Idaho Falls came together to form 3 v. 3 teams to compete in the Idaho Falls and Utah 3 v. 3 tournaments scheduled for later that summer. The fact that these young men decided came together at this time is remarkable because they had been cross-town rivals for a number of years.
Two weeks after the first practice, the Idaho Falls tournament was cancelled and the Utah tournament was postponed. Instead of letting summer competition slide, the young men decided to form one full team and head to Ogden, Utah for the Steam Summer Classic – which they handily won after only being together for 3 weeks.
After their first victory as a team, they came home and regrouped and set their sights on returning to Utah for the Cache Valley Cup in late July where they placed second overall.
After a successful summer, the young men headed off in different directions to support their high schools in the fall season.
Once the high school season was complete, the young men got together to discuss the possibilities of continuing on as an independent team – the vote was unanimous and Futbol Club Athletico was born.
